The central idea of the TENACITY research project starts from the observation that the Security Authorities use the data in their information systems as their basis for making decisions that affect the security of European citizens.
The project envisages addressing whatever challenges exist in the optimal use of information by proposing a 3-pillar approach:
(a) creating modern and effective tools for the exploitation of travel information data by security authorities;
(b) training and sensitization of Security Authorities personnel with the help of a “living lab” that will be created to organize hackathons, workshops for all interested parties, and
(c) design and implement a holistic approach to crime prevention, through a travel information governance framework, which will ensure that the proposed digital technologies support the detection of the modus operandi of crime and terrorist organisations.
The head of the project is European Dynamics company, which has experience in HORIZON Europe research programs as well as in their coordination, while Security Authorities, Air Carriers, Research Centers and companies providing technological services from many European countries participate.
The project has been successfully commissioned and funded by the European Union and has started operations in September 2022.
The amount of the program amounts to 6,000,000 euros. For Cyprus Police, the amount is about 125,000 euros.
